The Essence
"Craft American vodka blending California Bartlett pears with grain, delivering subtle fruity aromatics and exceptional silky texture while maintaining neutral vodka character."
Crafted with
Uncompromising Passion
St. George Spirits, the innovative Alameda-based craft distillery, returned to vodka production after a multi-year hiatus following the 2010 sale of their Hangar One brand to Proximo Spirits. Once contractual restrictions expired, the distillery applied its unconventional philosophy to vodka, creating All Purpose Vodka from California-grown Bartlett pears—the same fruit used in their acclaimed pear brandy. Rather than pursuing industrial polish, St. George crafted a spirit that retains distinctive character while remaining impeccably smooth. The pears contribute substantial texture and delicate aromatics without imparting overt fruit flavor, resulting in a vodka praised by Spirit Journal, Serious Eats, and Food & Wine for its silky richness and versatility. The meticulous production process separates distillate into 50 distinct sections, selecting only the finest heart for the final product, exemplifying the distillery's commitment to quality over volume.
Distilled from pear brandy base at 95.1% ABV, blended with non-GMO grain neutral spirit, then filtered before bottling. The pear distillate provides textural complexity and aromatic subtlety while maintaining neutral vodka character. Single distillation of the final blend preserves the carefully balanced flavor profile developed through decades of pear-distilling expertise.
