Uncompromising Passion
Stolichnaya, meaning 'of the capital' in Russian, originated in 1938 at Moscow Distillery Cristall during the Soviet era. The brand became internationally recognized through a landmark 1970s distribution deal with Pepsi, making it one of the first Soviet products widely available in the United States. Following the Soviet Union's dissolution, ownership disputes arose between Russia's state-owned Soyuzplodoimport and Luxembourg-chartered SPI Group. Today, two distinct versions exist: the international Stolichnaya (produced in Latvia using Russian distillate and Latvian glacier water) and the Russian domestic version (produced by Soyuzplodoimport). The brand remains colloquially known as 'Stoli' among enthusiasts. Despite geopolitical complexities, Stolichnaya maintains its reputation as an accessible, reliable vodka suitable for both cocktails and neat consumption.
Triple-distilled from a blend of wheat and rye grains. International versions use glacier water from Latvia combined with Russian distillate. Filtered through quartz sand and activated charcoal to achieve clarity and smoothness. The filtration process removes impurities while preserving the grain character.
