The brand itself was founded in 1998 by Roustam Tariko, built upon Dmitri Mendeleev's classical 1894 vodka recipe developed in Saint Petersburg. The Platinum variant distinguishes itself through an exclusive silver filtration system applied after the standard four-pass charcoal filtration. This dual-filtration approach aims to achieve ultrafine rectification, a slow and meticulous process requiring precision and constant control. The vodka is produced from grain and glacier water sourced in Russia. By 2001, Russian Standard had already established significant market presence, eventually capturing 60% of the Russian premium vodka market and expanding distribution to over 70 countries. The Platinum expression represents the brand's commitment to innovative production technologies while maintaining fidelity to Mendeleev's historical formula.

Produced at distilleries in Moscow and Saint Petersburg using grain and glacier water. Base spirit undergoes four filtrations through charcoal, followed by two additional passes through silver for the Platinum expression.
