The Heritage

Crafted with
Uncompromising Passion

In 1877, Lars Olsson Smith revolutionized Swedish spirits production by introducing continuous distillation at his Reimersholme distillery in Stockholm. His innovation produced 'Ten-fold Purified Spirits'—the first fusel-free spirit in Sweden—which became known as Renat, from the Swedish word meaning 'purified'. Smith's product challenged Stockholm's government liquor monopoly by offering superior quality at lower prices, even providing free boat rides to his distillery. The brand gained legendary status throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. In 1917, Sweden's alcohol industry was nationalized, and Renat was sold nationwide. When Absolut Vodka launched in 1979, Renat's original name was retired to avoid confusion, though the brand remained in production. In 2002, the bottle was redesigned by artist Jan Johansson in collaboration with Orrefors Glassworks. Today, Renat holds article number one in Sweden's Systembolaget catalog and remains a cultural icon of Swedish spirits heritage.

Column still distillation of autumn wheat sourced from Västergötland region. Ten-fold purification process removes fusel alcohols completely, resulting in exceptionally clean spirit. Water sourced from Swedish springs. The continuous distillation method enables complete separation of impurities, producing a neutral, pure base spirit characteristic of Nordic brännvin tradition.
