Originating from Okinawa, Japan's tropical island known as the Hawaii of Japan, Ukiyo begins with Awamori, a traditional Japanese rice spirit found exclusively on this island. The spirit is crafted from long-grain indica rice combined with black kōji, a fermented black rice, then triple-distilled in small batches using traditional pot stills.
