Uncompromising Passion
Monopolowa represents a direct lineage to one of Poland's most celebrated distilleries. The J.A. Baczewski company, founded in the 19th century in Lviv, became renowned for its quality spirits and innovative marketing. After the original distillery was destroyed during World War II and the family dispersed, Eduard Gessler acquired the Baczewski trademark and merged it with his Austrian distilling operation. Monopolowa was formally launched in 1958 and introduced to the United States, where it gained a devoted following. The brand was repatriated to Poland in 2011, completing a symbolic homecoming. Monopolowa remains faithful to the original family recipe, distilled from carefully selected potato varieties rather than grain, maintaining the authentic tradition of Eastern European vodka production. Its reputation for smoothness and complexity has made it a benchmark for potato vodkas globally.
Triple-distilled from special varieties of potatoes using rectified spirits, produced in Austria according to traditional family formula. Charcoal filtration ensures purity and smoothness. The use of potato as the base ingredient imparts a distinctive creamy texture and subtle sweetness compared to grain-based vodkas, with careful water selection contributing to the final character.
