Uncompromising Passion
Svedka's name is a portmanteau of 'Sverige' (Sweden in Swedish) and 'vodka,' reflecting its original Swedish marketing positioning. The brand was historically imported from Sweden as 96-proof concentrate and diluted in the United States, but production has since moved entirely to American facilities. In 2007, Constellation Brands acquired Svedka for $384 million, establishing it as a competitive mid-market vodka. The brand faced regulatory scrutiny in 2020 when Sweden's National Food Agency challenged its use of the 'Swedish vodka' designation, citing European Union protected designation requirements. In December 2024, Sazerac Company purchased the brand from Constellation Brands. Svedka has won multiple gold medals in international spirits competitions and maintains a reputation for smoothness and affordability, making it a popular choice for both casual consumption and cocktail mixing.
Five-column distillation process lasting over 40 hours produces a smooth spirit without requiring charcoal filtration. American corn serves as the base grain. The extended column distillation removes impurities while maintaining a neutral flavor profile suitable for mixed drinks.
